Bruce Power Workers Raise Money for Tornado Relief in Ottawa Region

Owen Sound | by Kevin Bernard

$7,800 was collected from Bruce Power employees during the one day campaign.

Bruce Power employees came together to help raise money for the Canadian Red Cross for tornado relief efforts in the Ottawa-Gatineau region during a site-wide fundraiser that took place last week where $7,800 was collected.

Director of Community and Indigenous Relations David Abbott says that when Bruce Power employees saw the images of the destroyed homes and businesses, they knew that many families were without electricity and possessions, so he says it was suggested that the nuclear giant raise money for the Red Cross.

Abbott says that the generosity of Bruce Power employees is truly humbling, as he says they constantly step up for those in need.

The community can continue to donate through the Bruce Power portal for Red Cross’ Ottawa-Gatineau tornado relief efforts at www.redcross.ca/OGTornado/Bruce
