Special Night for Winterhawks & Legion

Saugeen Shores | by Fred Wallace

Interview with Saugeen Shores Winterhawks President Gord Lamont

The Saugeen Shores Winterhawks are at home on Friday night against the Clinton Radars.

The game against the defending league champion Radars is significant for the Winterhawks in terms of the league standings, but also in terms of a fundraiser for the  Royal Canadian Legion Branch 155, Southampton.

Fred Wallace spoke to Winterhawks President Gord Lamont about the game and about the " special " jerseys the Winterhawks will be wearing.

Winterhawks to Honour Our Veterans

The Saugeen Shores Winterhawks announced plans to honour our veterans at their next home game.

On Friday night, (November 9th), the Winterhawks will wear special Remembrance Day third jerseys as they host the defending champion Clinton Radars at The Plex at 8:30 p.m.

The jerseys will be worn one-time-only and will be auctioned off during intermissions and postgame in a mixed format of live and silent auction, hosted by guest auctioneer Bill Walker, MPP for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound.

“We take for granted our ability to live freely and do things like play a game and that’s all because of the brave men and women who have defended our freedom,” said President Gord Lamont. “This is one simple way the Winterhawks can thank our veterans for their service.”

Proceeds from the jersey auction will benefit the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 155, Southampton.

“The Legion does a wonderful job supporting our local veterans and their families and hopefully we can raise enough money to make a difference,” said Lamont.

A sneak peek of the jerseys will be made available on the Winterhawks team website (winterhawks.net) and on the Winterhawks social media platforms ahead of the game.

Tickets will be available at the door at standard pricing, $8 per person.
