The Owen Sound Attack will need a win in Windsor tonight to salvage a five-game road trip after another setback in Flint.
Emmet Pierce scored what stood as the game-winner midway through the third period as the Flint Firebirds downed the Attack 6-4 in Ontario Hockey League action Wednesday night at the Dort Federal Event Centre.
The Attack suffered their third straight loss, falling to 1-3 on a five-game trip away from the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre.
Maksim Sushko had a pair of goals for the Attack (28-29-4-2), while Aidan Dudas and Brady Lyle each added singles.
Kyle Harris, Jacob Winterton, Ty Dellandrea, Hunter Holmes and Ethan Keppen also scored for the Firebirds (13-45-5-0).
The Attack remain two points back of the Kitchener Rangers (30-29-3-1) for fifth in the Western Conference despite the loss. Kitchener fell 5-3 to the Hamilton Bulldogs Wednesday night.
Tonight, the Attack close out their road trip with a stop in Windsor to face the Spitfires (24-31-5-3).
