Saugeen Shores Water Receives 100% Rating

Saugeen Shores | by Bayshore News Staff

The 2017 rating for Saugeen Shores was 96% and in 2016 it was at 89%

You can't get any better than what Saugeen Shores has now, in its 2018 Water Report from the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks.

The municipality has released its 2018 annual water report and as we reported a couple of months ago the ministry has given a 100% clean bill of health.

Director of Infrastructure and Development, Amanda Froese attributes the result to the work of town staff and the Ontario Clean Water Agency, operators of the municipality's system.

Froese says the inspection took place last Fall and there were no instances of non-compliance.

Mayor Luke Charbonneau says he expected nothing less than the perfect score saying the town and OCWA worked  hard over the past few years to attain the score.

The mayor says he's "looking forward to continuing that successful streak into the future."

You may recall in 2017 the rating for Saugeen Shores was 96% and in 2016 it was at 89%.

The low ratings were more for questionable record keeping issues rather than the practice of providing clean, safe water to the community,

The 2018 reports will be posted on the town's website and will be available for viewing at the municipal office.
