COVID-19: One New Case In Grey Bruce Friday

Grey Bruce | by Bayshore News Staff

Active case count increases to five in region as province sees slight uptick in daily case growth.

The Grey Bruce Health Unit confirmed one new case of COVID-19 on Friday.

According to the health unit's daily disclosure, a Southgate resident tested positive.

There are now five active known cases in the region. None of those are currently hospitalized.

Over the course of the pandemic, zero deaths have been attributed to Covid in Grey and Bruce counties.

Trillium Court long-term care home in Kincardine remains in outbreak due to COVID-19. The Heath Unit explains in a release the outbreak was declared on July 28 after an indeterminate test result in a staff member who reported to have worked for a number of days while having Covid-related symptoms.

The Health Unit says the facility currently has no active cases, but will remain in outbreak status as it remains in the incubation period of potential exposure from when the individual was sympomatic.

Public Health outbreak protocols require a facility to remain in outbreak status for the full incubation period.

Across Ontario, 134 new cases were reported by provincial health officials Friday -- a slight uptick after two days of case growth below 100.
