Hanover police say a third suspect has been arrested in connection to a home invasion and gunpoint robbery last year.
Police say in a release, the robbery happened a little over a year ago, on the evening of October 15th 2023 at a home on 11th street.
They say, three masked men entered a targeted home with a firearm and other weapons, stealing undisclosed items
from the victims before fleeing the scene in an awaiting white SUV.
Police say, after the robbery, a victim gave chase in another vehicle but came under fire from the suspects in their vehicle as they fled the scene.
No injuries were reported.
Following the incident last year, police appealed to the community for any information related to it. The following month, they announced they’d arrested one suspect after a multi-jurisdictional police investigation and they had issued a warrant for a another man. Both men, aged 34 and 42 are from Waterloo.
The second suspect was arrested after a foot chase on November 30th, 2023 in Kitchener. An investigation at the time determined he was in possession of a stolen vehicle, a sawed off loaded shotgun and a quantity of suspected cocaine and fentanyl. At the time, police said the man faced numerous charges.
This year, on October 20th, a third man, who is 39 was arrested without incident by the Nottawasaga OPP.
He was returned to Hanover by police investigators and later remanded into custody charged with the following
offences:
1. Robbery using a Firearm
2. Break, Enter and Commit Robbery
3. Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
4. Disguise with Intent
5. Discharge a Firearm with Intent
6. Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
7. Forcible Confinement
8. Participation in a Criminal Organization
9. Breach of a Weapons Prohibition Order
The other suspects who were arrested earlier in the investigation remain before the courts.
