The Recreation and Trails Master Plan is undergoing its first steps in Georgian Bluffs.
Public consultations began Tuesday night with an open house at the Shallow Lake Community Centre.
Members of Georgian Bluffs council and project consultants were in attendance to hear concerns and ideas as well as answer any questions.
The plan has only been in development for about three weeks according to Anand Desai, Associate Planner on the project for Monteith-Brown Planning Consultants.
Desai says these early stages will allow for community desires to be heard.
He says that the goal of the master plan is to provide council with an overview of community suggested changes and improvements over a 10 year period that can then factored into the capitol budget spending.
Among suggestions for community centre revampments and other ideas was many concerns around the designation of trails for motorized and non-motorized use.
In the past council has heard similar concerns regarding ATV use on trails frequented by hikers.
Desai says this is a concern expressed by many of the community members he has spoken to.
"The prevailing theme," says Desai "has been how these types of activities can coexist in a trail or trail system."
An ongoing survey is open until the 31st for the community to give suggestions, a link can be found on the municipalities website.
Desai says that no hurtles are foreseen at the moment so the draft plan is expected to be delivered in February 2020.
