Ontario Premier Doug Ford is thanking Bruce Power for a massive donation of personal protective equipment to frontline workers in the fight against COVID-19.
President and CEO Mike Rencheck joined Premier Doug Ford on the Open Line show on AM 560 CFOS where he made the announcement this morning.
The nuclear operator is donating 600,000 pieces of protective equipment including masks, gloves and gowns.
Ford says that's the biggest donation in the province, and perhaps in the country, "I'm getting chills just listening to you. God Bless you and it's absolutely amazing. This is the largest donation we've received so far in the entire country actually, and we're just so, so grateful."
"Private businesses are stepping up and people are stepping up and I'm just so grateful. We have the greatest province in the country, just they greatest people--they're incredible," says Ford.
Last month, Bruce Power also donated $300,000 to local food banks.
President and CEO Mike Rencheck says they're taking precautions to protect workers at the site and have scaled down to about 1,000 workers on site, with about 3,000 working from home.
Rencheck says they continue sign contracts with their suppliers, some of whom are working from home.
