Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".
How about a bunch of stuff today ?
How busy is Saskatoon this week with 3 Softball Canada events taking place essentially at the same time.
What a great showcase for the sport and I'm sure a HUGE boost to Tourism Saskatchewan and the city.
In an irony, it seems I speak with Canadian Nordic ski team member Julian Smith only in the Summer.
Once his race season takes off, he's all over the globe and is difficult to catch for interviews and updates.
Travelling the world to compete is expensive for a Canadian amateur athlete and to help defray those costs, Julian & his family hold what they call a " Communiski ".
The 6th annual Communiski Dinner for Julian Smith will be staged on Sunday August 11th.
The event begins at 5 pm at Gleason Brook Pottery on the Zion Church Road in Georgian Bluffs.
For tickets or more information, call 519-534-3222.
And while we're talking Winter stuff, the first ever season for the Collingwood Colts of the Ontario Junior Hockey League begins September 6th on the road.
The Home Opener for the Colts is a week later, September 13th when they host the Toronto Junior Canadiens at the Eddie Bush Arena.
See you today in Teeswater for the Reunion.
See you tomorrow in Hanover for the Dream of Glory.
See you next week at Duncan McLellan Park for the Softball Canada under 19 Championship.
I'm Fred Wallace
