Woodhouse Wins At Owen Sound Subaru Bayshore Race

By Fred Wallace

Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".

My legs have just about recovered from the annual Owen Sound Subaru Bayshore Race staged almost a month ago.

Guelph Storm Play by Play announcer Larry Mellott & I ran in tandem and talked hockey for the bulk of the half marathon which was a pleasant distraction and kept my mind off the grind.

For the record, at age 59+ I established a personal best of 2 hours 20 minutes & 8 seconds.

The good news is I was 37 seconds faster this year than in 2018.

The bad news is that almost obligates me to try and lower that time in 2020.

Time to start prepping for August 30th

The Owen Sound Regional Hospital released their stats from this year's event which was staged August 25th

Hannah Woodhouse of Clarksburg, a prominent local runner from her days at Georgian Bay Secondary School, broke the 10K record with a time of 35 minutes & 9 seconds which netted a $150 bonus.

The record Woodhouse broke had existed for 8 years.

Overall more than 400 runners participated, some as young as 3 years old, some as old as 81 years of age.

And most significantly, whether we're talking the 5K, 10K or Half Marathon, walk or run, the 2019 Owen Sound Subaru Bayshore Race generated in excess of  $40,000 for the Owen Sound Regional Hospital Foundation.
