Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".
The Owen Sound Attack are at Kitchener tonight for a pivotal game in the Ontario Hockey League's Midwest Division and Western Conference.
To say both teams have struggled this month would be an understatement; check their respective records over the past 10 games and you can see November hasn't been kind to either outfit.
It will be interesting to see the Kitchener bench tonight as General Manager Mike McKenzie will be handling the coaching duties for the Rangers after firing Jay McKee earlier this week.
It will also be interesting to see who's in goal for the Rangers tonight.
Jacob Ingham, whose been dealing with injury, but has played well in the games against Owen Sound this year ?
Owen Sound native Lucas Pfeil ?
Or ever-so-brief former Attack netminder Nathan Torchia ?
Do we need to go into the Nathan Torchia trade saga and the aftermath that has seen a conditional Attack 4th round draft pick dealt 3 times when it never should have been transferred in the first place ( according to Owen Sound ) ?
We'll save that never ending, twisted tale for another day. maybe at the 2020 OHL Priority Selection.
Regardless of who coaches Kitchener, and regardless of who plays goal for the Rangers tonight, the Attack have concerns of their own to attend to.
Currently on a 6 game losing streak, ( yes the majority of losses in this skid have been by 1 goal ), I view the situation as being similar to a house of cards.
It's never the same card that topples the structure; over the past 2 weeks there's always been a turnover, a giveaway, a blunder, a curious decision, a penalty, a bad break or a stretch of 10 minutes that have kept the Attack from getting 2 points.
Games against divisional rivals like Kitchener are always significant, and tonight, based on where the two squads reside in the standings is as big as any between the two over the last 2 seasons.
