Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".
Sauble Speedway held their Drivers Meeting Sunday at the Sauble Beach Community Centre and even though it was staged a few weeks before Christmas, the goodies were plentiful.
First of all from an organizational standpoint, all the legalities and regulations for the Speedway to operate in South Bruce Peninsula have been agreed upon with the municipality.
Second, the 2020 schedule was announced and the obvious observation is that the number of dates have been expanded.
Last year, there were 13 race dates on the calendar. For 2020, there will be 16 dates and the obvious take-away is that more dates means more racing, more action, more opportunity & more fun.
Speaking of fun, there's more bang for your entertainment buck as gate admissions will be reduced for the season ahead.
On the schedule there will be two separate APC dates, plus the Can Am Midgets on Holiday Weekends plus the touring OSCAAR Series will also be seen in 2020 along with a new 8 cylinder Late Model Division in house.
And finally, Sauble Speedway has cut ties with NASCAR.
Two years ago, this was BIG news when Sauble Speedway was approved and NASCAR sanctioned.
Over those two years, the reality was that being NASCAR sanctioned was expensive and significant dollars went south of the border to the Head Office, rather than staying local.
Maybe Christmas didn't come early to Sauble Speedway, but the 2020 race season at the track is coming soon, certainly sooner than last year.
