Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".
The climax of the local curling season is set for tomorrow night at the Tara Curling Club ( there's a little bit of foreshadowing, right there ).
The 2020 Brokerlink Insurance Grey Bruce Major Curling League will stage their final games, obviously, the most important match up is the Championship contest between the Mike Hamer rink from Port Elgin and Wiarton's Scott Davidson who curls for Wark's Service Centre.
In the post season, both Hamer and Davidson won their quarterfinal and semifinal matches.
In the quarterfinals at the Port Elgin Curling Club, Hamer defeated Shawn Kaufman of Walkerton while Davidson stopped Kincardine's Pete Newton.
A week later in the semifinals at the Chesley Curling Club, Davidson knocked off Brett McAllister who was on home ice while Hamer advanced with a win over the Joe Rettinger rink from Tara.
Doing some more comparison, in the regular season, Mike Hamer technically finished 2nd with a record of 7 & 2.
For his part, Scott Davidson was 4th with a mark of 5 & 4.
Which brings us to maybe the key question in our preview...how did they fare head to head in the regular season ?
Ironically, on November 27th, at the very same Tara Curling Club where they will meet again tomorrow night, the Davidson rink prevailed with a narrow 7-6 victory.
Will history repeat itself ?
In a unique league like the Brokerlink Insurance loop that encompasses a wide geographic range there are justifiable bragging rights for the champion tomorrow night.
There's also a first place cash prize of $ 1,200, which I assume holds a great deal of appeal for the Mike Hamer rink and the Scott Davidson foursome.
Good Luck to both entries tomorrow night at Tara on the final night of the Brokerlink Insurance Grey Bruce Major Curling League.
