Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".
I know we're just getting started in 2020, but was that not the busiest day of the local sports year yesterday ?
In the Ontario Hockey League, the Attack won their 4th in a row downing Hamilton 5-1
In the Ontario Junior Hockey League, the Collingwood Colts scored a big 5-1 at Buffalo over the Junior Sabres
There were 2 PJHL Pollock Division Quarterfinals last night with the Wingham Ironmen & Mitchell Hawks eliminating the Walkerton Hawks & Hanover Barons respectively.
The Knights of Meaford were outscored 7-5 at Bradford by the Bulls in the Greater Metro Junior Hockey League
Of course, the Knights host the New Tecumseth Civics tonight in their final home game of the season at the Meaford & St Vincent Community Centre
The BIG news, of course was the Raptors 15 game win streak was stopped in pro basketball as they lost at Brooklyn
Locally, on the High School front; the Sacred Heart Junior Crusaders moved to 8 & 0 with a win over the Saugeen District Royals
Plus the CWOSSA Senior & Junior Girls Volleyball Qualifiers were staged at Peninsula Shores District School & at St Mary's High School in Owen Sound yesterday; all those scores are posted on our web page today.
And finally the Brokerlink Insurance Grey Bruce Major Curling League climaxed at the Tara Curling Club with
Mike Hamer of Port Elgin defeating Wiarton's Scott Davidson for the league trophy
That was a busy day, especially on the local sports front for sure.
We'll see you tonight in Meaford.
I'm Fred Wallace
